After being on the market for over three years, a former ski area turned luxury ranch in unincorporated Jefferson County sold last month for $14.7 million.

The property on the 1300 block of South Grapevine Road in Golden, also known as Bear Mountain Ranch, was established by John and Debi Medved in the 1990s as a place to raise their large family.

The focal point of the ranch is a grand 17,000-square-foot mansion modeled after an English estate.

Initially listed for $37 million by LIV Sotheby’s International Realty in 2020, it was later relisted in 2021 by Hall and Hall for $25.8 million with additional acreage.

In January 2022, agents from Hall and Hall, Compass-Denver and Re/Max listed the property for the same price but divided it into six parcels.

One parcel, which consists of 10 acres and a 2,500-square-foot ranch home, sold for $2.5 million in May 2022.

After removing the remaining parcels in March, The Northrop Group with Compass-Denver and Re/Max Leaders listed them again in May. The realtors listed the three parcels with the mansion for $14.9 million.

The Oct. 12 sale is the highest this year in the Denver metro MLS and surpasses Jefferson County’s previous highest-price property record.

On the 4600 block of Eldorado Springs Drive in Boulder: $7.4 million

Initially listed for $8.2 million in July, the property sold for $7.4 million on Oct. 25.

On the 5700 block of South Maple Court in Greenwood Village: $6 million

Details: Initially listed for $6.4 million in September, the 13,000-square-foot Tudor sold for $6 million on Oct. 12. The six-bedroom, nine-bath home sits on 1.85 acres and features an exterior of Kansas limestone paired with a slate roof and copper gutters and downspouts.

The interior features a dramatic main staircase with custom iron balusters, a marble tile entry, knotty alder trim work, and exposed hickory and walnut flooring.

On the 100 block of Gaylord Street in Denver: $5.4 million

Details: This 6,000-square-foot mansion at 130 Gaylord St. in the Country Club neighborhood sold for its list price in October. Hoyt, one of Colorado’s best-known architects, also designed the Central Denver Public Library’s north wing, the Red Rocks State Park amphitheater, and the State Capitol Annex Building. On Eagle Pointe Lane in Castle Rock: $5.3 million
